Judging by the ratio of time spent talking to myself, I'm a fan of one sided conversations. I'm also apparently a fan of personal growth - according to science. So I'm going to start writing to myself. Then leave my scribblings laying around on the website so anyone can see them.
Not only is Human brian still evolving, so is Strange Coffee Company. What started as roasting for the Easy Chair Coffee Shop back in 2005 is still here - specialty coffee, sourced sustainably and with relationships with the farm where possible, craft roasted for our community. The Easy Chair is long gone but the roasting continues.
There has also been change. This year saw the 10th anniversary at the current Strangelandia location. Further improvements are on the near horizon. Completion of a climate controlled roasting and green coffee storage room should happen this winter. A 'coffee lab' for offering espresso, brewing, roasting, and/or sensory skills training will be next.
Updates
The past year and a half has been a whirlwind of coffee travels . I've been volunteering with the Farmer to Farmer program and have taken multiple 15 day assignments to Guatemala, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. I attended the Specialty Coffee Convention in Portland, Oregon. I have went to Thailand for a Q Grader Community of Practice. I'm about to go to Ecuador and take a Robusta Grader class and exam. Thank you for supporting Strange Coffee and bearing with my constant interruptions to the delivery schedule so that I can go learn more about coffee.
Intention
I think it only fair that since your purchase of coffee supports my being able to travel and get better at coffee I should report back on some of the adventures. I'm not a communicator by nature so we'll see how it goes.
